At Sethuram’s Sruthilaya School of Fine Arts, we are driven by a Wise passion for preserving and promoting the timeless traditions of Indian classical music and dance. Founded in 2005 by Master S. Sethuram, an eminent Carnatic vocalist, Nadaswaram artist, music director, and multi-instrumentalist, our academy has become a global hub for those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich world of classical arts.
Our vision is to take the Wise knowledge of music to the nook and corner of the world, a vision embodied in the phrase Yaathum Oore Yaavarum Kelir, (யாதும் ஊரே யாவரும் கேளிர்" – கனியன் பூங்குன் றனாே்) This verse from Purananuru 192 conveys the Wise idea of universal kinship. meaning “every town is ours, and everyone is our kin.”
This mission reflects our commitment to spreading the knowledge of Carnatic music and classical arts to people across the world, just as we once did across Singapore and Malaysia.
Born into a prestigious musical family, Master S. Sethuram carries forward the rich tradition of his grandfather and father, renowned Thavil Vidwans. As a Top-Grade All India Radio artist and recipient of honors like the Acharya Ratna Award and Asthana Vidwan, he is recognized for his mastery and contribution to Carnatic music.
For over three decades, Master S. Sethuram and his brother T.S. Pandian have performed as the Thirumakalam Brothers, bringing the auspicious sounds of Nadaswaram and Tavil to thousands of weddings, temple festivals, and cultural events worldwide. Their performances have graced numerous prestigious Sabhas, including the esteemed Music Academy, earning them a revered place in the world of Carnatic music.
With performances spanning India, Sri Lanka, Europe, and North America, their mission is to preserve and promote Carnatic music, offering music education, mentoring students, and enriching the cultural heritage of the Indian diaspora.
At Sethuram’s Sruthilaya School of Fine Arts, we offer a wide range of classical music and dance courses, designed to provide a deep understanding of traditional Indian classical arts while fostering creativity and expression.
Sethuram’s Sruthilaya was established with the goal of nurturing students in the highest traditions of classical music. Our founder, Master S. Sethuram, hails from a family of celebrated musicians, and from a young age, he was immersed in the rich heritage of Carnatic music. With over two decades of experience as a performer and teacher, Master Sethuram has dedicated his life to preserving this ancient art form while making it accessible to the world. His journey began with the establishment of Sruthilaya School of Fine Arts Pte Ltd in Singapore in 2005, followed by the expansion into Sethuram’s Sruthilaya Arts Academy Sdn Bhd in Malaysia in 2014. In 2025, Sethuram’s Sruthilaya continues to spread its wings, with new ventures in the USA and India, furthering his international outreach through these countries and online platforms.
Through Master Sethuram’s leadership, the academy has not only imparted knowledge to thousands of students but has also brought global recognition to the value of Carnatic music. The legacy of Sethuram’s contribution to the arts is evident through his numerous awards, including the Top-Grade Artist award from All India Radio (AIR), and his pivotal role in organizing record-breaking events like the Go Green A Voice of Nation.
